Raymond, yes Sir you can. If you do use .45 Colt ammo in the .454, clean the chambers thoroughly before firing .454 Casull loads due to carbon ring buildup that happens when firing the shorter round. The .454 is a high pressure round and this will prevent insertion/extraction issues. Cheers and stay safe!
You can shoot 45lc in the 454. The difference is that 454 cases use a rifle primer and the lc uses a pistol. So you won't get as good of a powder burn. The difference in length is very minimal.
