It's made out of steel so therefore is legal in Illinois. They just don't want alloy for fear of the firearm breaking. Now the heritage rough rider is illegal in Illinois but the barkeep is good to go.

Jonathan, this revolver's frame is made of Zamak 5 (Alloy) and the Barrel 1215 steel. It will not pass Illinois Melt Test Laws. This information is on page 11 of Heritage Arms BarKeep's Manual : --- https://heritagemfg.com/Heritage_BarkeepManual.pdf
