Ashley, yes you can shoot either .223 or 5.56 with this gun. If a gun is rated for 5.56, you can shoot either one, but if it is rated for .223, you should not shoot 5.56 from it.

Yes you are correct. A 5.56 barrel can shoot 223 Remington all day. Just don't shoot 5.56 out of a 223 barrel cause 5.56 has higher pressure than 223 and can cause damage or injury. Hope this helps.
