This has a carbine length gas system. Almost all rifles with a barrel of 16 inches is considered a carbine. Mid length is 18 inch barrel and rifles 20-24 inche barrel. Sometimes that varies a little but just giving you an idea of how to tell from barrel length. Hope this helps.
