It is an aluminum handguard. The gun may have a low price point but the reviews are overwhelmingly good. A great buy for sure!

The hand guard is made of aluminum. The mil-spec compatible upper and lower receivers are constructed of polymer that is metal reinforced at key stress points. This gives you an AR that's just as tough as aluminum but weighs half as much! Reviews are generally good but I would recommend an aluminum upper and lower rifle for durability.
