Both are quality handguns with the Glock having been around longer. You will be able to select more features with the S&W (such as manual or no safety). I would get to a local shop and handle both to see which is the best fit for you personally(your body will instinctively let you know which feels better). Either will serve you well.

The best (for you) would depend on which feels better and you shoot better with. For me I cant shoot Glocks they just don't feel good in my hand I shoot the S&W good. They are both quality firearms and I would not worry about problems with either of them as they will both serve you well and the companies will stand behind them
