Keifer, the Beretta PX4 Storm is an excellent choice. This pistol has gotten great reviews since it's release by Beretta. I don't know if you are a 9mm or 45acp sort of guy, but I would initially recommend the 9mm. It will have less recoil, more control, higher capacity. Even the FBI has realized that fast, accurate shots are the way to win gun fights and have re adopted the 9mm. Once you have mastered the 9mm, then by all means get you a PX4 Storm in 45 to keep the 9mm company.
the beretta storm 9mm compact is the way I would go but there are many good CC guns out there I carry a (summer) Ruger SR9C and everyone that has tried mine has shot it well try to find a range that rents and try several of the CC sized firearms and I would bet that one will be a standout for you them Holster selection becomes the next point IWB,OWB. I selected the compact because its easier to conceal and lighter at the end of the day id CC is not comfortable you will stop carrying.
