Christopher, this model does have Extended Rosewood Grips. It is more wood and does give a more comfortable grip for larger hand individuals. There is significantly more grip control and shooting comfort. Cheers and stay safe!

No there isn't any extra steel, it's just the wood grips making it little longer. With it being a little longer it'll give a better grip, making recoil a little easier to manage. Hope this helps.
