Your best bet might be to cut the threads and rethread it for 1/2×28 then. I'm finding sound moderators in 1/2×20 threads but they seem to be European websites and like you said not sure if they can be obtained in the USA. Looks like your only option might be to rethread it or have to go with an adapter. Sorry couldn't be more help but hopefully this atleast helped some.

Hi Ri, with adapters low on your list of solutions, I highly recommend a barrel re-thread to the exact thread pitch for the sound moderator you seek. Since re-threading can cause changes in tolerances at the muzzle, I recommend a re-thread/re-crowning.
