I noticed my security 9 has a little bit of play in the slide shifting left and right on the slide rails. For example when you shake the gun you can hear it rattle. Is this normal?

A little play is normal, but it shouldn't affect reliability, if it malfunctions during shooting id contact ruger and send it in, but it shouldn't be an issue.

James Reeves on TFBTV always does the Maraca test just for fun to see how much play there is between the slide and rails on a gun, and there are quite a few that rattle, but then run flawlessly.
