Hi Ron, No its a Gen 3 The Gen 4 has a different buttstock. The major difference is the new chamber design , it blows some gas back into the chamber to help release stuck cases . Iv shot thousands of rounds out of my gen 3 and have never had an issue . All other ar15s and ar10s also don't really have a problem with cases getting stuck . So to me it's like they solved a problem that doesn't exist with the gen4 chamber . The only other difference you will see externally is now they also come with a ambi mag release , as you stated before both gen3 and gen4 have ambi safety & bolt release.I would call Buds and find out for sure. 859-368-0371
