I was considering building 7.62x39 on ar platform but was concerned if the magazine would fit any standard ar 15 lower converted to 7.62x39 from .556nato

Joseph, It is the problem with the differences in the two cartridge cases with the casing taper and then combined with with the straight mag well in the AR15 lower. The two cartridges and the magazine shape that they require to feed correctly are incompatible with the other lower platform's receiver. Just get a dedicated 7.62x39 lower for your build.

They'll fit any standard 7.62X39 AR lower this will not be the same as your 556/300bo etc. Lower
