This has slica gel in it and they last quite a while. I have some going on 5 years still holding moister. With that said I'd buy a dehumidifier rod that heats up but requires being plugged in like the golden rod dehumidifier. These are fine if you don't have an outlet near by but need recharged constantly. I've never had this specific brand so maybe it's different but the few I have tried and buddies have tried need recharged every couple of days. Hope this helps.
Curtis, 5 to 7 years average Sir. The moisture-control crystals inside the unit change from orange to green when the unit needs to be recharged. To dry out and recharge the crystals, simply plug it into any 110V electrical outlet until crystals turn orange again. Perfect for anywhere you're concerned about the damaging effects of humidity and moisture in the air.
