Michael, I would use a "one piece" scope mount for maximum stability such as : https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/82641/Colt+Competition+Rifle+1401+Scope+Mount+For+1 (There are several, just match it to your intended scope tube diameter).
