Yes, it can be replaced. It comes with a standard commercial buffer tube. You will have to change the grip also since the grip is attached to the stock. You can swap the commercial buffer tube for a regular AR-15 milspec buffer tube so you have more options but plenty of options for commercial stocks available. It can use a regular AR-15 pistol grip also but you have to use the screw that comes with the vr80 and not a AR-15 grip screw. Hope this helps.
