Pretty sure it's short action but not finding much regarding action length. I'd call Howa and double check at 1-800-553-4229 or email them at customer_service@legacysports.com and they'll be able to give a definite answer. Hope this helps.
Josh, For the 6.5 PRC you'll want to use a long action. If you want to get full performance from the case design, you'll want to seat the heavy bullets long to maximize case capacity. I would confirm the Action Length with Howa/Legacy at TOLL FREE: 1-800-5-LEGACY or Direct: 1-775-828-0555
James, yea for 6.5 prc long action is preferred but kept seeing this under description for this rifle- Short action models accept Ammo Boost Detachable Magazine Conversion Kit - Wich makes me think it's short action.
