Randy, Pull out your bolt and try to eyeball the gap between the bottom edge of the extractor claw and the bolt face. The thickness of the rim of the brass from base to extractor groove has to fit into this gap. Because brass thickness can vary by brand, if the gap between the bolt face and extractor claw is on the narrow end, some brands may work and others not. Visually inspect for any chips or irregularities on the extractor. Savage Customer Service can also initiate a RMA to get the Bolt fixed at (800) 370-0708 HOURS Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST or by online here : https://service.savagearms.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I'd try polishing or at least cleaning the extractor the best you can. Weird that it's catching and extracting live rounds but not spent casings. Have you tried different ammo, maybe the brand you're using has inferior brass casings and they're expanding enough and getting stuck, would explain why it ejects Live rounds but not spent casings. Other than that I'd contact Savage at (800) 370-0708 and request warranty work. Sorry you're having issues but hope this helps.
