John, this shotgun has a 3 inch Chamber and can fire the shorter 2 3/4 inch shells no worries. Same concept as a .357 Mag revolver being able to fire the shorter .38 Special cartridge. Cheers and stay safe!

Aguila makes a 1 3/4 inch ashotgun shell. The slug or buck shot. Yes, they are that short. The 12 gauge slug is 1250 fps. It packs a punch. They work great in my Tactical 870 and can load more shells. Also lots of fun in my stage coach double barrel 12 gauge.
