Muhammad, Texas is a pretty good state for gun owners. No state license is required to possess a rifle, shotgun or handgun, you do need a permit for concealed carry, however. You live in one of the best states to own firearms in. You don't need a license to purchase a firearm, only license you would need is if you plan to conceal carry a firearm then you would need a concealed carry permit. As for firearms you can pretty much own anything you want. Hope this helps.

The others are partially correct, you can own ANY firearm that's not prohibited by federal law. No license is required. There is also no license required to carry concealed in most places, I've got a buddy in Houston he just wrote up a long post on a forum of the pros and cons of having an LTC in texas. Silencers that were manufactured in Texas do not require a tax stamp or registration with the ATF.

Oregon *used* to be better than Texas in some ways - here, businesses that post the proper signage can legally exclude you from carry. Not like Oregon where you could ignore any such signs, and only would you be committing a criminal act if you were told to leave and didn't. Muhammad, in Texas, no license required to own any firearm except you must register NFA firearms and accessories such as silencers, short barreled rifles and automatic firearms and pay a $200 Tax Stamp. Other than NFA items, you are good to go in Texas. Cheers and stay safe!
