I'd say your best option would be the Glock 19. Your second best option would be the Glock 17. Both are 9mm, full sized so they won't have horrible recoil, both easy to learn how to use them, both extremely reliable with decent accuracy. Think either one would suit you well. Hope this helps.
Kari, the Glock 19 is most popular. If you desire a similar sized and capacity Semi-Auto, I wold also consider the Canik TP9SF Elite : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/114599/canik+55+tp9sf+elite+9mm+419+15rd+tungsten
I have to agree with both James G. and Josh T. The Glock 19 is great choice if you are wanting to stay with a Glock. It is a great size for concealed carry as well as open carry. You will be able to get a full grip on the handgun. The good thing about the Glock 19...if you live in a free state that allows "high" capacity magazines, you will be able to use 17rd 9mm magazines and also the 33rd round 9mm magazines. I would also agree with James G as far as another option in the Canik TP9SF. I would like to offer my suggestion as well. If you are open to different type of handguns, check out the Sig Sauer P320. These are also great handguns and are in the same price range as the Glock.
Try the Glock 19, 45, and 17 in your hand and see what feels the best.
I recommend going to a range that has rental guns and try as many of them as you can. Then you will know what feels best to you
