No, the diameter of the .223 exceeds the diameter of a 22 lr. It would be dangerous

Yes but this is specifically for display purposes only. Copied from Google-the fake suppressor is threaded 1/2" x 28 and is designed to be used as a thread protector. It is not designed to be used during any type of live firing. So this is not intended to actually be used while firing the firearm, even on a 22lr. So since it's for display only and not meant to actually be used in live fire there's no reason it wouldn't work on a 223. This is basically for prop guns. Hope this helps.
