No, you have to do a background check for every firearm you buy. So if you buy two pistols on the same day at the same time you still have to do two background checks, one for each firearm. Sorry but hope this helps.
So not only will they not use the background check from a year ago but again if you buy two pistols you will have to complete a background check for each pistol.
Pat, unfortunately no as NICS checks expire and you will need to have another done after 30 days. Lots of folks have gone from good status to something other than in less time than a year. Cheers and stay safe!
Pat, NICS check are good for 30 days, (for that particular transaction) so you need a new background check. You do not need a background check for each firearm if they are under the same transaction. EX--you purchase 3 guns from same dealer at same time, you only need one background check. But if you purchase 2 guns from same dealer at different times, you need 2 background checks. Buy them at the same time in one transaction, you only need one background check.
No they won't use the check from your last purchase and you will have to go through a check for both handguns. Darn infringements.. I mean laws.. Stay safe and happy plinking!!
