I have a marlin XT like this one except in .22LR. Would it still be legal in NY if I affixed a pistol grip/thumbhole stock? I think it is only restricted on semi-auto firearms, I just don't want to end up in prison... thanks.

Andrew, yes Sir it is NY legal being a Bolt Action Rifle. It does not have the same restrictions as a Semi-Auto Rifle. Cheers and stay safe!
