This should work fine for your intended use. It's meant for wildlife to stop them from coming at you without killing them. It's a star shaped rubber slug. So don't see why it couldn't be used on humans. It's gonna really hurt and stop them from coming at you but doesn't look like it would be lethal. Hope this helps.

Less lethal but not non-lethal. Personally, I cannot imagine a situation where I wouldn't always prefer buckshot in a justified use of a firearm in self defense.

This load is designed for intermediate to mid range (20-40 yds) encounters with larger animals such as Bear, Moose, Elk or Deer. I would not recommend it for non-lethal home defense. Most home defense encounters are up close, and I would not risk a shot that close without fear of a lethal result.
