Tony, I always recommend to Clean and lube before taking any firearm to the range for the first time. Alot of manufacturers use thick lubricant to prevent rust over long storages, so this can cause jams and issues if not cleaned and lubed. Or some don't have much if any lubricant Wich can wear parts quicker. Don't think it would hurt much if you didn't but I'd clean and lube it as soon as possible after coming back from the range.
