Walter, unfortunately no. This can only shoot 223 rem without damage. Buds has a bad habit of adding 5.56 to firearms that can only shoot 223. Now if this was chambered for 5.56 then you could safely fire both but it's chambered for 223 so you can't. Sorry but hope this helps.

Walter, no Sir. The barrel is stamped .223 Remington so it is advised not to shoot 5.56 NATO for warranty and safety reasons. Buds has 5.56 in the listing title in error. Cheers and stay safe!

YES, if you check Henry website it will show this model as .223 Rem/5.56 NATO....so it will fire both perfectly fine. I hope this helps!

Walter, sorry looks like I was incorrect. Was going off of other websites Wich list it as 223, even the model number H014S-223 lead me to believe it was 223 only. But Henry's the manufacturer and they should definitely know what it's chambered for. So yes this can safely fire both 223 and 5.56. Sorry again but hope this helps.
