Ken, Glocks are fantastic pistols. Quality wise they're just as good as Beretta. In my opinion a Glock will never look as good as a Beretta 92 but that's just me. For reliability, easy controls, and overall function Glocks are hard to beat. I would definitely recommend a Glock and highly doubt you would be disappointed. Hope this helps.
Ken, I happen to own several of both models Sir. Quality is a non issue between both so it boils down to aesthetics between the two brands. The Glock is slightly more rugged due to the polymer frame and will be slightly softer shooting with the same ammunition. The same ammunition also averages 20 to 25 fps faster in the Glock due to the less friction of the polygonal rifling. The Beretta will fit your hand better as it is slightly more ergonomic in the hand grip area. You can't lose either way as both are long time proven designs. Cheers and stay safe!
Glock is a excellent firearm however I suggest that you rent one at a local range before purchasing as they have a different "feel" than a beretta
