Hi Dale, No it doesnt have ambidextrous safety. It has the standard 1911 safety on backstrap as well as on the left side of firearm below the slide. Precision. Accuracy. Performance. This is S&W's entry level 1911 model, and having had one for a few years it'a great gun. It does not have an ambi safety, however my local gunsmith installed one for $75 including labor.
