Stacy, you mean like an intruder. This would work fine. I'd recommend something a little pricier for self defense but this will definitely get the job done. Your main concern with fmj ammo is it over traveling threw walls and hitting something/someone not intended. That's why hollow points are recommended because they have less of a chance to over travel. This will have no problem stopping the threat. Hope this helps
It is very good ammo and would do a good job of stopping a threat however it is a full metal jacket and will not have much if any expansion and could over penetrate. Bullet placement will be mere critical than with a jacketed hollow point
Stacy, this is target ammunition and is not optimized for self defense. This load is what you need for two legged critters : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/65949/winchester+9mm+115+grain+jacketed+hollow+point+50rd+box
Stacy, if need be, yes, however it is not the ideal defensive round. As others have stated, you need be concerned with over penetration. Hollow points are better for defensive purposes, but this will definitely work if it's all you have. Have a great day!
