Tony, no a compensator helps redirect gas to keep the muzzle from rising. It also directs gas away from the shooter but that's more for rifles. Hope this helps.

Compensator reduces recoil and muzzle rise when you shoot. It is more or less the opposite of suppressor since it tends to increase blast (more visual muzzle flash and louder). I hope this helps!
