This is a subjective question as only you can say how much you are willing to spend, what is worth it or what you are comfortable with. That said.. For range use a budget red dot like a Vortex, UTG, Sig or Bushnell will do fine most can be set up to co-witness. If you are using this carbine for more serious use like defense etc? I would go with an Aimpoint micro, EOtech or Trijicon reflex or red dots. Like anything you get what you pay for so just keep that in mind when shopping for an optic.

Doubt you'll find any that would cowitness. You could also get the Romeo and Juliet combo Wich is a red dot and magnifier. The Ruger pc carbine is surprisingly accurate even at 2-300 yards. Frank, I have the Sig Romeo 5 mounted on my Ruger PC Carbine, using the included riser mount. It is not co-witnessed, but with the riser, you can use the factory installed sights by simply looking beneath the red dot. Works for me.
