James, it will take up all the real estate. A 6 inch rail is usually has 15 slots and I would personally add a max of a 13 slot Rail due to the Magpul hand guard design which will come in at half an inch or so shorter : https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/714019714/seekins+mlok+rail+section+13+slot

James, this is mlok and has an overall Length of 7.1 inches, and a mounting length of 6.6 in. So a 6 inch picatinny rail will fit fine. Hope this helps.

James, it is carbine length, approx 6.7", so a 6" pic rail will fit.
