Kevin, I am 99% sure this Wiley Clapp model has a metal "Main Spring housing". I would have you contact Colts Custom Shop to clear up my 1% memory discrepancy at Tel: 800-962-COLT (2658) * Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm EST
The Wiley Clap series uses flat checkered steel main spring housings
After Checking with Wiley Clapp, Pete Single (a.k.a. Metal Smith) checkers the "Steel" mainspring housing and rounds the heel/blends/ fits the housing to the frame. He does that for each Wiley Clapp Govn't Model.
Hi Kevin, It is a steel Main Spring Housing. Not like the plastic ones on the other 90%
