Andrew, the sds lynx has 4 different settings. You have off and that won't allow any gas threw. Setting 1 is what you want for heavy loads. Setting two is for medium loads and setting 3 is for light bird shot type loads. So for your intended use id start with the first setting, if that doesn't work well try setting two. Hope this helps.
