Its rated for 556 so it will fire both. 5.56 is a higher pressure round then .223 so if its rated for 5.56 it'll safely shoot both, accuracy with .223 drops a little bit when fired out of a 556 but its not much. For the best of both worlds you can always go with .223 wylde
