It denotes the place of manufacture, no real difference other than the country stamped on the slide. P for Austria, U for USA made.

Mark, the only difference is where it was manufactured. Glock model numbers starting with a U were made in the USA, model numbers starting with a P were made in Austria. Hope this helps
