Why the tall sights? Seems like a snag waiting to happen when you need a speedy on target round fired at a bear, t-rex or any large biting scary critter.

The intent is the ability to co-witness iron sights and installed optics.

Darin, yep, agreed. They are for co-witnessing for an Optic Sight if added. Since an Optic Sight is not added, it would seem S&W assumes everyone will add one immediately which is pretty assumptive. My opinion is (2) sets of Sights should be included for us "Iron Sight" Aficionado's. Cheers and stay safe!
