What does "formerly compliant" mean? Last time I checked this one was no longer available to be sold in California since DOJ dropped it from the list.

Carlos, it means it was not renewed by S&W for the CA DOJ Handgun Roster(which is exactly what CA wanted). This is the list of manufacturers that got fed up with CA's red tape and let their handguns drop off. The list is quite extensive at that  :  --   https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/de-certified-handguns

Carlos, formerly compliant just means it was California compliant and now it's not. Buds is just letting people know it's no longer California compliant. Smith and Wesson didn't pay the $200 renewal fee, so doj dropped it from the list. Hope this helps.

Carlos, since it was dropped from the list, it is "formerly compliant". What that really means is that S&W didn't pay CA the $200 extortion fee to keep it on the list. Have a great day!
