Robert, this can shoot bird shot, buck shot, or slugs. Since this has a smooth bore rifled slugs will get the best accuracy. This also has a 3 inch chamber so it can safely fire both 2-3/4 inch and 3 inch shells. Hope this helps.

Robert, you can shoot whatever your heart desires. Slugs, birdshot, or buckshot in 3" or 2 3/4" shells. For slugs, you want rifled, or foster type slugs. Have a great day!

Robert, bird, buck will work for all chokes and slugs through modified choke max for best results with Foster Type Slugs. Since this shotgun has a 3 inch chamber, it can fire 3 inch and shorter 12 gauge shells (2 3/4) no issue. Cheers and stay safe!
