Steven, no, since this has a pistol brace there's no reason for a $200 tax stamp. Your buddy most likely mistook the pistol brace for a shoulder stock, sometimes they look pretty similar. If this had a stock on it then they would be correct and this would be a short barreled rifle and require a tax stamp. Since this has the pistol brace its considered a standard pistol. Pistols with a barrel under 16 inches and a shoulder stock= short barreled rifle and require a tax stamp. Pistols with a barrel less than 16 inches and a pistol brace= pistol.
