Julian, yes, you can add any length handguard you want, there are no rules against this. Monstrum Tactical makes some affordable drop in handguards. Julian, yes you can Sir. Hand guards up to the actual barrel length are common with the recommended one being an inch less that the barrel so you won't have issues with muzzle brakes or flash hiders. Cheers and stay safe!

Julian, yes you definitely can. You can swap out handguards to a free float handguard of whichever length you prefer. Julian, A2 front sight is no issue. I have extended handguard on my AR15 w/A2 front sight. See my first answer.
