Robert, yes, you can add the bird heads grip to this model but you would have to change the frame. The birds head grip uses a different frame than this revolver. The manufacturer does sell frames that fit this that are specifically made to work with the birds head grip and it would still be legal in California. Just Google the model number ( 302-0002-01 ) and the frame you need will pop up. Hope this helps.
