I've looked up barrel lengths and such and the mossberg 590 shockwave seems to be fine but it won't allow the purchase

Nathaniel, the shorter Shockwave is not CA legal, but this one with the 18.5" barrel is compliant. Bud's needs to have the website updated to reflect this.
