Jerome, all are good choices but personally I'd either go with the bergara b-14 or the Savage 110 ultralite. My first choice would be the bergara, they make fantastic rifles. The Savage is going to be a little lighter wich is really nice lugging it around while hunting and Savage also makes great rifles just feel the bergara is little better. As for Wich caliper that's up to you. For a first time rifle I'd lean towards 6.5 creedmoor due to lighter recoil but 308 has a larger selection of ammo because it's been around alot longer. With 6.5 creedmoors popularity though think it'll catch up quick in bullet selection. So mostly up to you Wich one you like the best. Honestly either one will make a fine hunting rifle. Hi Jerome, the rifles listed are fairly even in overall function, fit and finish and accuracy potential. That said, I would go with the Begera M14 due to owners posting the most favorable reviews compared to the other two. Do yourself a favor and get the ballistically superior 6.5 Creedmoor. Just do a little research on comparisons between .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor at distance and the decision will be made for you. Cheers and stay safe!

Hey Jerome. Have you ever shot a small caliber rifle? If you have never shot any type of rifle you could start out with a 22 cal. Maybe get familiar with a rifle before purchasing one. Remington models 770 & 783 are both bolt action rifles in 243 caliber. Each one is very well made, come with a scope and can be had for around $300 dollars. You may be best served going to a range that rents different types of deer rifles to fire. This way you get to test out a variety before you buy. Best wishes
