Fred, it's not a straw purchase but due to regulations if you order the firearm under your name unfortunately you would have to be the one to do the background check/transfer. You have couple options. First and easiest would be to purchase gift cards from buds for the amount of the firearm and let them purchase it. Another and most difficult is you could buy the firearm under your name do the background check/transfer. But in order to sell/gift a firearm across state lines you would have to go to a FFL dealer/gunshop have them ship it to a FFL dealer near your friend and they would have to pick it up and do another background check/transfer. You could also have your friend start a buds account and order it and just give them the money. Unfortunately that's federal laws for you. Sorry but hope this helps.
