Hi Jim, unfortunately you are correct. The Telescoping stock and pistol grip are both prohibited in New York State. Jim, it has several restricted features like pistol grip, collapsible stock, threaded barrel and muzzle brake. So even removing the magazine it wouldn't be legal in NY State. Sorry to say, You assumed correctly... I'm a fellow NY'r and this current POS Governor just made what Coumo started with the S.A.F.E. that much worse!! The restricted "Features" make this model a No Go here. Not sure if you know yet but, in NY you'll now need to have a Semi-Auto permit to buy ANY semi automatic rifle in NY! If you already have a pistol permit you can just submit an ammendment and piggyback it off of the pistol permit, our county charges $13 if you're just getting the permit. If you do not have a pistol permit then you'll need to go through the whole process (for the semi-Auto rifle permit) as if you were getting a pistol permit. So if that's the case, just do the pistol permit application and check the add semi-auto rifle box. Good luck!!
