Jastin, I'd recommend contacting Springfield armory for a definite answer because most of the reviews I've read says it comes factory pre-installed but some reviews say you have to install it. So not sure if Springfield wasnt installing them and recently started or vice versa. You can contact them at 1-800-680-6866 or you can email them at (cs@springfield-armory.com). Sorry can't give a definite answer but hope this helps some.
