Isaak, for 20 gauge really any buckshot would work but number 3 seems to be the most popular choice. If interested here's a link to one I'd recommend................. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/67294/federal+premium+20+ga.2+3+4+magnum+20+pellets+3+lead+bucks .................... And here's a link to another great option but little cheaper....................... https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/65084/winchester+20+ga.+2+3+4+20+pellets+3+buffered+lead+bucksho ...................... Hope this helps.
Here's a Home Defense Slug by Brenneke. I also have 4 rounds of Buckshot loaded in with the slug in the middle.

Then there's also the Rio Buckshot available here on Bud's for a steal of a price, 25 rounds at I think $10.95 a box!!
Isaak, you will need a load that is not over penetrative but will penetrate enough to stop a threat. #1 Buck fits the bill nicely https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/158149/rio+royal+buck+rb209+20+ga+2-3+4+1+buck+9-pellet+25rd+box. Here is an example of different buck sizes including #1 Buck since the 20ga and 12ga would be comparable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhZf_x8Esms
Hi Isaak, Winchester Defender #3 Buckshot is a good load for home defense. Twenty #3 buckshot pellets are basically the equivalent of emptying a full magazine of handgun ammo with a single trigger press, so this is more than enough for close-range threats. budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/132174/winchester+defender+copper+20+ga+2-3+4+20+pellets+3-buck+10rd+box , Stay safe & have a great day!
