John, to be ma compliant it has to have a 10+ pound trigger or certain safety features like a drop safety, loaded chamber indicator, manual safety, so that if a 5 year old was to get ahold of it they could not use it. This has safety features like mentioned safety, drop safety, loaded chamber indicator to make it ma compliant plus the 10 round magazine capacity. Hope this helps.
