Jody, yes the S&W M&P9 shield plus is rated for +p ammo. Like every manufacturer Smith and Wesson recommends limited use since it can cause wear quicker than standard velocity ammo but honestly unless you're shooting thousands of rounds doubt you'll ever notice a difference. So pretty much just don't go to the range every day shooting +p ammo. Use it once in awhile to test defense rounds and you'll be just fine. Hope this helps.
